The Salus University clinical facilities, The Eye Institute (TEI), The Pennsylvania Ear Institute (TEI), and the Speech-Language Institute (SLI), have been busy over the month of October. Here are some of the events they have attended this past month:

State Representative Jennifer O’Mara hosted her annual Senior Expo. Seniors were offered services such as getting their flu shot, a SEPTA Senior pass or renewing their current one, and learning about the resources available.

Resource Orientation for Stroke & Aphasia (ROSA)

Temple University Main Campus Howard Gittis Student Center

Resource Orientation for Stroke & Aphasia (ROSA) was a free event hosted by the Aphasia Resource Collaboration Hub (ARCH). The event welcomed all people with aphasia, their care partners, students, speech-language pathologists, and other allied health professionals.

The event had two panels in the morning, one with professional insights into stroke and aphasia, and another where people with aphasia talk about their experiences adjusting to the life changes that occur after a diagnosis of aphasia. In the afternoon, lunch was held followed by small breakout groups in the afternoon.

Hearing Loss Association of America”s (HLAA) Walk4Hearing is a nationwide campaign that brings hope to people with hearing loss in 20 cities, meeting them in their communities to raise awareness and show support.

Representatives Liz Hanbidge and Ben Sanches hosted a Family Resource Fair and a trunk or Treat for the community. They had food, fun and helpful community resources for children and families of all ages and sizes! 

Arts in the Park

Arts in the Park is a one-day arts festival sponsored by Friends of High School Park.

Each year Arts in the Park welcomes dozens of artists and craftspeople to display and sell their work at the festival, and each festival draws over two thousand visitors from Elkins Park, Cheltenham, and neighboring communities.

The All Abilities Ramble event offered a fun and engaging space for folks with disabilities and their families. Participants explored and experienced the Farm at Awbury, met the chickens and goats, and found out what's growing on the farm.
