The Pennsylvania Ear Institute (PEI) of Salus University recently hosted a Fall Open House on Saturday, October 19. Students and faculty were on-hand to educate members of the community and raise awareness about healthy hearing, tinnitus and balance.
The Open House drew 65 people who were given tours of the state-of-the-art facility and first-hand demonstrations of PEI’s enhanced diagnostic equipment. Students had the opportunity to showcase their clinical skills through complimentary hearing screenings to over 45 attendees. Anyone who failed a hearing screening was referred to PEI for a comprehensive evaluation. The screenings resulted in 25 appointments with PEI for these evaluations.
Drs. Elizabeth Sedunov, Rebecca Blaha and Amanda Ayars hosted three standing room only Talks with the Experts where they provided specific information on topics related to hearing aids, tinnitus, and balance.
“I received a lot of really fantastic positive comments from attendees about how much they appreciated the personal attention they received from everyone, and how valuable the experience was for them,” said Dr. Lindsay Bondurant, PEI director. “I was incredibly proud of all of the students who volunteered their weekend time to assist with this event, and I am also grateful for the preceptors who gave their time and expertise.”
PEI offers comprehensive hearing evaluations, balance evaluations, hearing aids/fitting and repair, cochlear implant services, tinnitus and hyperacusis management, hearing protection and auditory processing evaluations.
